Albinism through my eyes
Over the years, there has been a lot of controvacy over the word, "Albinism".
I would want to use this opportunity to enlighten everyone on this rare medical condition.
Albinism is the congenital lack of melanin pigmentation in the skin, eyes and hair/feathers (or more rarely only the eyes).
According to the national organization for albinism and hypopigmentation, about 1 in 18,000 to 20,000 people in the united states have a form of albinism. The numbers are higher in Nigeria, with a rate of 100 thousand cases per year.
Basically, albinism is a genetic condition which is hypopigmentation. However albinism is not a limitation to anyone, A child born with this condition would grow to live a normal, healthy and long life as a PWA(person living with albinism), if only a few safety precautions are taken.
Pwa's are normal people not celestial beings or even worst aliens (as some myths suggest).
Albinism is beautiful!
Albinism is rare!!
Albinism is golden!!!
